Aaron and Rachel Halbert welcomed three black triplets into their family and people have drastically mixed reactions. They reached out to the National Embryo Donation Center and used frozen embryos that were donated by another couple.
They were having trouble conceiving and thought it was God’s way of telling them to adopt non-caucasian children.
Aaron recalls that an elderly white woman looked at him with disgust when he held his children and another young black girl wept when she learnt that these were their children. Comments on various websites ranged from people concerned about the children’s social identity when they grew up to calling the couple racist for wanting children only of a specific race. Some others lauded the couple for their open-mindedness and unbiased love.
What do you think about the couple’s plan of using these specific embryos?
